Write Poetry with Your Children

Here is a quick outline for a biographical poem. Just have your child answer the questions for a tailor-made poem just about them! You can even print this post and have them fill in the blanks. When finished I like to take the words and write them in fancy print or type them and then have my kiddos decorate the page. You can even do one each year and see how they change!

Who Are You?

1. List five words that describe your best qualities:

_______________, _______________, _______________, _______________, _______________

2. List five words that describe your physical characteristics:

_______________, _______________, _______________, _______________, _______________

3. List five words that describe the kind of friend you are:

_______________, _______________, _______________, _______________, _______________

4. List three words that describe your favorite things to play:

_______________, _______________, _______________

5. List three words that describe your talents

_______________, _______________, _______________, _______________, _______________

6. List three words that people say you are that you don’t agree with:

_______________, _______________, ______________

7. Write three words that you want to be instead:

_______________, _______________, _______________

8. Cross out any three words from this list that you no longer want to be.

Rewrite or type just your words and then decorate the page.
